El Mejor 11 de la Historia de la Eurocopa

The Best 11 in the History of the Eurocup

Since its first edition in 1960, the European Championship has been the stage for the best European national teams to compete. Over the decades, this tournament has seen the emergence of players who have left an indelible mark on the history of football.

In goal, the chosen one is Lev Yashin, known as the Black Spider. Yashin, considered by many to be the greatest goalkeeper of all time, was the Soviet Union's goalkeeper in the inaugural European Championship. His shot-stopping ability and intimidating presence between the posts make him the perfect candidate to protect the goal.

In defense, we start with Sergio Ramos. The Spanish center-back has been a key player in his national team's defense, with whom he won the European Championships in 2008 and 2012. His leadership, ability to score decisive goals, and his success at club level, where he has won multiple titles with Real Madrid, ensure his place in this starting eleven.

Accompanying Ramos in defense is Franz Beckenbauer. The Kaiser, as he is known, is considered one of the greatest defenders in history. Beckenbauer, who won the European Championship in 1972 with West Germany, was a sweeper who combined defensive skills with an impressive ability to initiate plays from deep.

Completing our defensive line is Ronald Koeman. The Dutch center-back was a key figure in the Netherlands' Euro 1988 victory. Known for his powerful shot and ability to score goals from outside the box, Koeman was a defender with a magical touch.

In midfield, creativity and ingenuity are personified by Antonín Panenka. Although perhaps not the most renowned in terms of skill, his famous Panenka penalty, which gave Czechoslovakia the title in 1976, has immortalized him in football history. His inclusion in this team is a tribute to his audacity and creativity.

Frenchman Zinedine Zidane is another essential midfielder. Winner of the European Championship in 2000, Zidane is considered one of the greatest players of all time. His vision, elegance, and ability to decide matches make him a vital member of our ideal XI.

At his side was Michel Platini, France's hero in 1984. Platini not only controlled the game from midfield, but was also a prolific goalscorer. His performance at Euro 1984, where he scored nine goals, remains legendary.

The midfield machine is completed by Xavi Hernández, the driving force behind Spain's 2008 and 2012 championship. With his precise passing and tactical intelligence, Xavi was the mastermind behind the style of play that dominated world football for years. Alongside him, Andrés Iniesta, his inseparable partner in midfield, is a must. With his sublime technique and ability to step up in the most crucial moments, Iniesta and Xavi formed an unstoppable partnership that led Spain to the top.

Up front, the choice is clear: Gerd Müller, known as the Torpedo. Müller, who led Germany to victory in 1972, is one of the most prolific strikers in history. His ability to find the net in any situation makes him a key player in this team.

Finally, we can't leave out Cristiano Ronaldo. Although he missed the Euro 2016 final, his impact on the tournament and his astonishing goalscoring prowess with Portugal and at club level secure him a place in this historic XI.

This historic Euro Cup team not only celebrates the best players to have lifted the trophy, but also pays tribute to the unforgettable moments and feats that have shaped the tournament's history.
