The balls used in the World Cups have been modified over time thanks to the use of new technologies that allow defining aspects such as speed, impermeability, precision, and design. Since the 1970 edition, the balls for each World Cup have been designed by Adidas.
In the first events, leather balls filled with a bladder were used to give it consistency, but over the years it evolved and modified its characteristics. In 1963 Adidas began manufacturing them and the company's first for the tournament was baptized Telstar, in honor of the satellite that made possible the transmission of the event to various corners of the planet.
