1900 – Official Foundation
The Godenzonen are founded, taking their name from the Greek hero Ajax the Great. The club begins its competitive history in Amsterdam, establishing an identity based on discipline, youth development, and attacking play.

Under the management of Louis van Gaal, the Godenzonen defeated Milan in the Champions League final and overcame Gremio in the Intercontinental Cup.
