On August 23, 1923, the Real Club Celta was born as a result of the merger of Vigo Sporting and Fortuna de Vigo, thanks to the encouragement of Manuel de Castro 'Handicap' and the lawyer Juan Baliño Ledo. The color chosen for our first season was red, although it would soon be replaced by the colors of the Galician flag. Red has been present throughout the years; proudly wearing the red and white colors of the Vigo people and is one of the most appreciated combinations among Celtic fans. He had a special role in the 2001-2002 season, one of our most memorable seasons.
