This is how William McCrum, Irish businessman and goalkeeper for Milford, an Irish league team, presented the idea of the penalty kick to the Irish Football Association and later to the International Board in 1890.

McCrum was mocked by the rest of the Federations. Being England the cradle of football and the first club, it could not be otherwise that the origin of the boots was also English. However, the first evidence of the existence of football boots dates back to 1525, when Dr. Maria Hayward, from the Winchester School of Art's Textile Conservation Centre, discovered, in the course of an investigation, a list who was breaking down the Great Wardrobe of King Henry VII, discovering that among his clothes there were football boots.

The first football boots created specifically for the game date back to the end of the 19th century and were designed to protect the player from rival tackles rather than to enhance the game.

With these boots, at Coolligan we wanted to pay homage to the oldest club in football history, Sheffield FC.

The Milan Cricket and Football Club was founded in 1899 by 2 Englishmen: Albert Edwards and Herbert Kilplin. The following year, he won his first title: The King's Medal, awarded by King Humberto I after defeating Juventus 2-0. In 1901, it won its first national championship, followed by another 2 in 1906 and 1907. In the 1940s the club received the name of Associazione Calcio Milano. The club's golden age came in the late 80s and early 90s, with Arrigo Sacchi and a squad led by the Dutch Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit and Marco Van Basten.

The well-known quote by Gary Lineker, 'football is a simple game, twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, Germans always win', is maybe the best ever given for the German national team. This quote sums up, in a few words, the impression that football fans around the world have about the never-ending German presence in he World Cup's crucial rounds regardless of their initial state of fitness.
