A key moment came with the 1980 match between Aberdeen and Liverpool, which helped popularise the style. Over time, the movement grew and spread across England. By the 1990s, it became linked to electronic music and bands like Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses. Britpop further amplified its cultural impact worldwide. Artists such as Liam Gallagher championed the style, connecting it to their footballing and working-class roots. Today, its legacy lives on in contemporary trends that blend football and fashion.
