Despite making their first World Cup appearance in USA 94, they are the African foot- ball team with the most appearances in the knoc- kout rounds, having reached the Round of 16 on three different occasions. In addition, following the country’s first African Cup triumph in 1980, Nigerian football gained international exposure during the 1990s.
