History of football in Toledo: tradition, passion and legacy.

Toledo has a football tradition dating back to the early 20th century, rooted mainly in the Infantry Academy (since 1906) and the Provincial Institute. In the civilian sphere, the Toledo Foot-ball Club was registered in 1928, although it already existed as a sports club. The entity that took the reins and consolidated the fan base was Club Deportivo Toledo, founded in 1939 under the name Imperial C.N.S. and adopting its characteristic green and white colors in 1940.

Over the decades, the green club became established as Club Deportivo Toledo, S.A.D.. Matches were held in emblematic venues such as the Campo del Polígono (formerly a military field), the Campo de Palomarejos (opened in 1931), until the inauguration of the Estadio Salto del Caballo on November 23, 1973, which became the epicenter of the city's football life.
