The first recorded mention of football boots dates back to 1526, belonging to King Henry VIII. He paid four shillings (about $120 in today's money) for them, and they were made by the craftsman Cornelius Johnson.

The first boots weighed around 500 grams each, which could increase to 1 kg when the pitch was wet. In 1925, brothers Rudolf and Adolf Dassler launched the first football boots with interchangeable studs. The brothers would later go their separate ways, founding Puma and Adidas, respectively.
