History of football in Navarre: tradition, passion and legacy.

Navarre has a football tradition dating back to the early 20th century, with its capital city being a center for the early practice of foot-ball. The club that became established was Club Atlético Osasuna, which was formed from the merger of two earlier clubs: Sportiva Foot-Ball Club (founded in 1919) and New Club. The club was officially established on October 24, 1920, and is the oldest football club in Navarre, with a name that means "health, strength, or vigor" in Basque.

Over the decades, the red-and-white club consolidated itself as Club Atlético Osasuna, becoming one of the four professional clubs in Spain owned by its members. The matches were initially held at the Campo de San Juan (opened in 1922), until the inauguration of the El Sadar Stadium on September 2, 1967, which became the epicenter of the city's football life. The stadiums, uniforms, and colors of the local clubs have shaped the aesthetic of classic football in the region. Understanding this history, including their first promotion to La Liga in 1935, their European appearances in the 80s and 90s, and their two Copa del Rey finals, allows us to grasp the evolution of football shirt designs, sports fashion, and the importance of historical kits as cultural artifacts. Each historical era of football in Navarre and of teams like Club Atlético Osasuna inspires vintage football fashion and retro jerseys, allowing a connection with the legacy, passion, and spirit of classic football in the province.
