Igor Dobrovolski, a star of Soviet football and Olympic medalist, arrived at Castellón in 1990 after facing difficulties in Italy.

During his time at the club, he showed glimpses of his talent with three goals in fourteen matches, but he couldn't prevent relegation to the Second Division.
His time in Castellón was marked by highs and lows, including a car accident from which he emerged unscathed. Despite this, he retained his place in the Soviet national team, continuing his international career.
