THE STORY BEHIND ...

Real Sociedad's successes began in the 1979/80 season, when the team, managed by the legendary Alberto Ormaetxea, finished as league runners-up and went 32 matches unbeaten. In the 1980/81 season, the club, with a squad full of homegrown players, won the league title. This victory is especially remembered by everyone. Real Sociedad was playing for the league title against Sporting Gijón and was trailing on the scoreboard (2-1). All seemed lost until, in the final moments of the match, Jesús Mari Zamora scored what would become the most important goal in the club's history.

1980–81 – La Liga
El Club conquistó su primera Liga bajo el mando de Alberto Ormaetxea. El histórico gol de Jesús María Zamora en El Molinón dio el empate ante el Sporting, asegurando el título.

1981–82 - Campeones de nuevo
La Real Sociedad gana su segunda Liga consecutiva. Se consolida como el mejor equipo español de comienzos de los años 80.

1982 - Supercopa
El club conquista la Supercopa de España completando su etapa más dominante de su historia nacional.

1987 - Copa del Rey
Ganaron la Copa del Rey frente al Atlético de Madrid. El título se decidió en una final histórica resuelta en penaltis.
